Donald Trump pulls U.S. out of United Nations global compact on migration

США отказались от присоединения к международному договору о миграции

Former U.S. President Barack Obama's administration backed the resolution, known as the New York Declaration, which also asked U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi to propose a global compact on refugees for adoption in 2018.

The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, opposed the withdrawal, according to Foreign Policy.

The withdrawal is consistent with the president's America First policies.

Secretary of State Rex TillersonRex Wayne TillersonTillerson on reports of ouster: "It's laughable" Meet the Iran hawk who could be Trump's next secretary of State Tillerson under pressure after White House plan leaks MORE on Sunday announced the United States is pulling out of a United Nations-led Global Compact on Migration, claiming it "could undermine" the enforcement of the nation's immigration laws.

US President Donald Trump's administration said it was withdrawing the US from an worldwide pact aimed at improving global migration and refugee issues, prompting criticism from the United Nations.

According to the USA permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, "no country has done as much as the United States".

In September of 2016, the members of the U.N. General Assembly unanimously adopted the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants, a non-binding declaration committed to upholding the rights of refugees that sought to enhance global coordination on migration.

Frost was then drafted by the Jets and played five seasons in the National Football League with New York, Cleveland and Tampa Bay. UCF has had some supporters in the College Football Playoff argument this year due to their undefeated record.

He added that the U.S. "has the experience and expertise to help ensure that this process leads to a successful outcome".

The United States has been part of the talks since they began in April, the outcome of a political declaration in NY by all 193 members of the United Nations previous year in favor of protecting the rights of migrants and refugees by assuring their safe resettlement and access to employment and education.

"The United Nations should not miss this opportunity to improve the lives of millions of people throughout the world", Lajčák added. Since he took office in January, he has also moved to ban USA entry by people from select Muslim countries.

She explained the motives behind the move, saying that such domestic policy matters as migration decisions "must always be made by Americans and Americans alone".

Haley's predecessor Samantha Power mocked the US move.

Significantly, the Trump Administration has separated from many global commitments including the UNESCO and Paris climate agreement.

"The president risks isolating the US for the sake of his own fans - and his own ego", the op-ed said.
