Meghan Markle Made a Surprise Appearance at the Queen's Staff Christmas Party

At this point in time, it is still pretty unclear whether or not any of the first family members will be in attendance at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in May.

Kensington Palace announced on Friday (15 December) that the engaged couple will exchange their wedding vows on 19 May 2018.

"Today's announcement follows earlier confirmation of the month of the wedding and its location at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle".

With another royal wedding on the cards, celebrities, both in the U.S. and the United Kingdom, took to social media to congratulate the soon-to-be husband and wife Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The couple - who have been dating since mid-2016 - announced their engagement a few weeks ago after Harry, 33, proposed to Meghan during a "cosy night" in.

They had their first official photocall together in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace in November.

The palace confirmed the Queen will be a guest at Harry's wedding.

Other contenders who could be on the list of Meghan's bridesmaids are, fashion stylist Jessica Mulroney, tennis champ Serena Willliams and former Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, all of whom are close friends with the American actor.

Queen Elizabeth II married Prince Philip on a Thursday and the Prince of Wales, Charles, married William and Harry's mother Princess Diana on a Wednesday.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said: "We are very excited for Harry and Meghan". English also tweeted that Prince Harry seemed "keen" on introducing Markle to everyone, which is understandable.

Will she see her parents or family on the big day?

It is not yet known if the ceremony will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Ms Markle will become an HRH and a senior royal after marrying Harry and joining the Windsors. With the arrival of the Cambridges' children, Harry is too far down the line of succession to have a realistic prospect of being monarch.

He added: "We know that the eyes of the world will be on Windsor next May and we couldn't think of a better way to kick off the summer than by welcoming a royal wedding".

The time of the match has yet to be confirmed, but in recent years it has taken place at 17:30 GMT.
