Iran threatens to reconsider cooperation with IAEA

U.S. President Donald Trump holds a cabinet meeting at the White House in Washington U.S

Trump openly supported those protesters on Twitter.

The spokesman for Iran's atomic energy organization told state television that the Islamic Republic stood poised to resume its nuclear program at a far greater speed than it had done prior to the 2015 nuclear deal.

Mogherini said the deal has allowed for deeper cooperation and dialogue with Iran on all issues as she stressed the need to see its continued success.

Senior officials have told AFP they "expect" Trump to extend waivers on nuclear-related sanctions on Iran Friday to keep the U.S. in line with the agreement, though he is also expected to impose fresh measures against Iran over human rights abuses and support for foreign extremist groups. The next deadline is Friday.

An Israeli source with strong contacts in the Trump administration told WIN, "At the last deadline POTUS took a midway step and avoided ending or continuing the sanctions".

U.S. Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Steven Goldstein has said that Trump will announce his decision on Friday.

An announcement from the European Union late on January 8 appeared to confirm that the focus of the meeting hosted by European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini would be on the nuclear deal, saying "ongoing work to ensure a full and continued implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)" would be on the agenda, using the formal name of the nuclear deal. In exchange, the global community agreed to ease economic sanctions related to Tehran's nuclear program. On the other hand, his national security team is reportedly urging the president to keep the nuclear accord alive or risk setting off an worldwide crisis and possible Iranian renewal of its nuclear weapons program. It has said it will stick to the accord as long as the other signatories respect it, but will "shred" the deal if Washington pulls out.

Kim Jong-un loves tell-all Donald Trump book
The paper said that the popularity of the book reflected "rapidly surging anti-Trump sentiments in the worldwide community". Wolff told the Today show last week that he spent about three hours with Trump during the campaign and in the White House.

United Nations inspectors have certified Iran's compliance with the deal nine times, most recently in November.

"While stressing that all options are on the table if Washington withdraws from the 2015 nuclear deal, Tehran maintains that it will not be the first side to violate the JCPOA", Tasnim notes.

"Any move that undermines JCPOA is unacceptable", he said in a post on his official Twitter feed.

By Friday, President Donald Trump must - once again - sign waivers on Iranian sanctions to keep the nuclear accord alive or refuse to sign, thereby terminating United States participation in the agreement.

"We understand well that why the West, especially the U.S., are pursuing Iranophobia", Iranian defence minister Amir Hatami said, adding: "This is a total American story that says for the progress of America's economy, staging wars is inevitable".

The trigger points would address strengthening nuclear inspections, Iran's ballistic missile program and eliminate the deal's "sunset clauses" under which some of the restrictions on Iran's nuclear program expire over time.

Thursday's talks also highlight one of the major points of friction between the United States and Europe that could be raised during Trump's visit to World Economic Forum later this month in Davos, Switzerland.
