Kim Jong-un invites South's Moon to Pyongyang

'Never-before-seen' MYSTERY missiles spotted during North Korea's military parade

Before Moon and Pence met Saturday at an Olympic speed-skating event, the South Korean president met with Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

During a practice ahead of their first match in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, the unified Korean team wore blue and white jerseys - leaving onlookers to wonder which players were from the north.

Kim Yo Jong, who is thought to be about 30 years old, entered the meeting with the president carrying a blue folder with the North Korean crest embossed in gold on the front, which she carefully laid on the table in front of her.

"It is absolutely necessary for the North and the United States to engage in talks at an early date", he cited Moon as saying.

Pyeongchang: South Korea on Saturday investigated a mysterious internet shutdown during the Winter Olympics opening ceremony, which follows warnings of possible cyber attacks during the Pyeongchang Games.

"Chairman Kim Jong Un's envoy Kim Yo-jong delivered a letter expressing a willingness to improve relations", the presidential spokesman said.

At a dinner at a hotel in Gangneung, the sub-host city of the Olympics, Kim Yo Jong was "wearing a wine-colored jacket and black trousers", South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported.

Still, it wouldn't be South Korea if people weren't asking the perennial question when it comes to North Korea changing gears and showering its rival with apparent affection: What's in it for Pyongyang?

Moon sought to reassure U.S. Vice President Mike Pence that the allies remained in lockstep despite North Korea's joint appearance at the Olympics.

Also, North Korea sent its own cheerleader squad and an art troupe who are scheduled to perform in the Pyeongchang Winter Games.

To be fair, ESPN2 later reported Copeland's mother returned to the gym where her son had committed to his college future. Asked why his mum got up and walked away, Copeland said he wasn't sure, but had to follow his heart.

He also talked about visiting the North Korean border town of Kaesong, where the countries operated a joint factory park that had been a symbol of rapprochement before South Korea shut it down in 2016, after North Korea's fourth nuclear test. The U.S will not allow the propaganda charade by the North Korean regime to go unchallenged on the world stage.

Mind you, NBC's rendition of the ceremony as a whole, which ditched much of the speechifying by Olympic and South Korean leaders and trimmed other elements, took only 15 minutes longer than the actual running time of two hours, 15 minutes.

But she had no hesitation about attending the Olympics, because she looks around and sees her South Korean neighbors utterly calm.

A separate one-page cheat sheet provided by Inje Speedium to its staff points out that North Koreans don't use English words like shampoo and conditioner, which are used in the South.

Mr Pence stayed seated when the athletes of the host nation marched in to the arena alongside those from the north. But as the loss deepened - Korea finally lost to Switzerland 8-0 - it was hard to find a silver lining.

Some local media reported system problems, including the Games website and some television sets, were due to a cyberattack but Sung said it was still too early to determine whether hackers had attempted to damage them.

"What we honestly don't know yet is why it is historic", Ramo said.

This has exposed the gaps between Seoul and Washington in how to deal with North Korea.

A relaxation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula due to the Pyeongchang Games renewed hopes for a diplomatic solution to the crisis and escalating war of worlds between Pyongyang and the US.

Pence said Moon updated him about the meeting he had with North Korean officials and "both of us reiterated to each other tonight that we will continue to stand strong and work in a coordinated way to bring maximum economic and diplomatic pressure to bear on North Korea".
