US President Donald Trump holds a joint news conference with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven in the White House East Room in Washington, US March 6, 2018.

Trump said the United States has been taken advantage of by "friendly and not-so-friendly countries" saying the European Union has been particularly tough on the USA when responding to Lofven's comments on tariffs.

"I like conflict. I like having two people with two points of view", Trump said alongside Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.

Trump, who has previously blasted Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation into Russian meddling and potential collusion with Trump campaign associates in the 2016 presidential election, slammed Sessions last week for appointing an "Obama guy" to lead the investigation into potential "massive" surveillance abuses. "But for me leading a small country, we feel the best way to do that is with others". "They make it nearly impossible for us to do business with them and yet they send their cars and everything else back into the United States", Trump said.

"We'll counteract whatever they do". One of the things we're learning, it's always good to have a paper back-up system of voting. "We won't allow that to happen". "We're doing a very, very deep study and we're coming out with I think some very strong suggestions on the '18 election". Called paper. Not highly complex computers.

"And I think that's a great idea". "There was some prodding and proving that went on at state levels". "Sometimes they want to go out and do something else, but they all want to be in the White House".

Japan's foreign minister to visit USA this month to discuss N. Korea
Meanwhile, Senator Lindsey Graham said on Thursday that any damage caused by a war with North Korea would be " worth it ". The White House said any talks with North Korea must lead to an end of its nuclear programme.

"Thanks to Vladimir Putin, we've gotten a wake-up call", Coats told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Last week, Lt. Gen. Paul Nakasone, the next head of U.S. Cyber Command and the National Security Agency, also has told the Senate committee that nations including China and Russian Federation that launch cyberattacks against the U.S. don't fear retribution and see no reason to change their behavior.

"The Russian bear came out of hibernation and was hungry", and the country "is likely to continue to pursue even more aggressive attacks, with the intent of degrading our Democratic values and weakening our alliances".

"Yeah, there'll be people - I'm not going to be specific - but there'll be people that change".

Adm. Mike Rogers, the outgoing director of both the U.S. Cyber Command and National Security Agency, said the U.S. response to Russian Federation has not been strong enough to change Moscow's activities.
