Facebook recently suspended Cambridge Analytica after it learned the firm violated terms of their agreement and failed to remediate the situation.

Apple's CEO Tim Cook took some digs at his fellow tech giant by calling out on Facebook for selling its users" data besides, criticising Amazon's "contest' for new headquarters.

Facebook, data, and privacy have been the topic of discussion all over the internet as well as out. "However, I think we're beyond that", Cook continued.

"I think that this certain situation is so dire and has become so large that probably some well-crafted regulation is necessary", Cook said during a forum in Beijing over the weekend, according to Bloomberg.

You're the product." Zuckerburg had mocked Cook's ridiculous concept by saying, " What, you think because you're paying Apple that you're somehow in alignment with them?

India and China were locked in a 73-day military stand-off at Doklam in the eastern section of their border past year . The statement is a major test of China's patience at a time when it is heading towards a trade war with the US.

In an interview with Recode and MSNBC, scheduled to be aired on April 6, Cook also criticised Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and others who use people's private data to make money. "We've elected not to do that ..."

When asked what he would do if he were in Mark Zuckerburg's shoes right now, Cook replied, " What would I do?

In an interview with CNN's Laurie Segall, Zuckerberg responded to a question about outside regulation in an unexpected way: "I actually am not sure we shouldn't be regulated". I think it's an invasion of privacy. Facebook has been caught in a medial maelstrom over its lax approach to data sharing; specifically over the Cambridge Analytica issue, through which it was recently revealed that Facebook users' data was being used by the firm with the intent to influence the 2016 U.S. election.

Fast Company noted that while Cook has been vocal about Apple's refusal to engage in the data monetisation economy, Facebook is the most widely used app on the iPhone and reached an 80pc penetration among app users. Unlike Apple, he said, they look at every app that uses their platform in detail, referring to the company's App Store review process.

It must be noted that since MSNBC has released on scattered clips from the event, it's not clear in what context Cook is speaking.
