How YouTube shooter turned from defiant to deadly

Gunman Opens Fire at You Tube Headquarters

Authorities believe that the policies that YouTube [VIDEO] had implemented motivated Aghdam to shoot those three people in the company before killing herself.

On her channels she posted a range of different videos, including workouts and what she claimed was "the first Persian TV commercial and music video regarding animal rights and veganism".

But police are investigating a website that appears to show the same woman accusing YouTube of restricting her videos, according to the Los Angeles Times.

People who post on YouTube can receive money from advertisements that accompany their videos, but the company "de-monetizes" some channels for reasons including inappropriate material or having fewer than 1,000 subscribers.

"YouTube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!" she wrote on her website www.nasimabc.com, before it was taken down Wednesday afternoon.

YouTube had no immediate comment about any actions related to Aghdam's videos. One video was a tutorial on buttocks massage, and another featured a song praising Bahaism, a religion that originated in Iran but is heavily suppressed by the Islamic Republic.

A YouTube account in the name of Nasime Sabz was deleted yesterday evening.

The woman who wounded three in a shooting at YouTube headquarters had a tiny social media presence in her native Iran, where her death was reported briefly by state television.

While YouTube is reviewing the incident in detail to increase its security around the world, it is uncertain if Google will be taking the same approach across all of its subsidiaries.

Kimia Shobeiri, 18, suggested the shooting was a ploy to get attention.

"At that point, every new person I saw was a potential shooter", he said. "With this act she damaged the reputation of Iranians".

The San Bruno Police Department identified Nasim Aghdam, 39, of San Diego as the YouTube campus shooter on April 3.

"It was a very normal conversation".

According to a lengthy statement issued by the Mountain View Police Department, authorities said they discovered Aghdam sleeping in her vehicle in a parking lot around 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday. She opened fire later that day and then killed herself. He declined to identify which shooting range, but several San Bruno police officers on Wednesday spent almost two hours at Jackson Arms, a South San Francisco range.

One of the victims - a 36-year-old man - remained in critical condition, a spokesman for San Francisco General Hospital said.

According to reports, her father Ismail had informed the police of her daughter's violent anger towards YouTube when she went missing before the shooting.

Eleven hours after her run-in with cops in Mountain View, however, Aghdam would shoot three YouTube employees in a courtyard as they ate lunch before turning the gun on herself.

Aghdam was quoted in a 2009 story in the San Diego Union-Tribune about a protest by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals against the use of pigs in military trauma training.

"It's not easy but it is what it is", her brother said.

As officers entered they found one victim at the front of the building with an apparent gunshot wound, Jackson said. She was staying at her grandmother's home in 4-S Ranch, but she stopped answering her phone - and they reported her missing to police. "It's not like she stood out", he told Mercury News.

"It's with great sadness that I tell you - based on the latest information - four people were injured in this horrific act of violence", Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said in letter to employees posted on Twitter.
