Trump Assails US Immigration Laws in West Virginia Tax Speech

President Trump making another visit to West Virginia

President Donald Trump is taking shots at Democratic Sen.

In closing, Trump thanked Governor Jim Justice and Senator Shelley Moore Capito before directly acknowledging that Congressman Evan Jenkins and state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey - who were flanking the president at the table - are both vying for the Republican nomination to unseat Manchin in November.

"Remember my opening remarks at Trump Tower when I opened?"

"The lawlessness that continues at our southern border is fundamentally incompatible with the safety, security, and sovereignty of the American people", Trump wrote Wednesday in a memo authorizing the move, adding that his administration had "no choice but to act".

Jenkins said that "West Virginians understand your policies are working" and that Trump was "welcome to come back any time".

Trump also made unfounded claims about migrant behavior, claiming at one point that "women are raped at levels nobody's ever seen before". Many members of his own party have blamed the president's lack of focus for helping to stymie their agenda, and they are eager for him to focus on the tax cut, the most significant legislation achievement on which to run in the upcoming midterm elections.

Although Trump's administration billed the event as an official visit to tout the benefit of the tax cut package Trump signed into law previous year, Trump literally threw away his single page of prepared remarks and delved into 20 freewheeling minutes, alternating between policy points and political jabs. Sue Cline, the sate senator from the 9th District, said she was grateful for the opportunity to celebrate the success of West Virginians.

Ronaldo's Shot May Rob Buffon of Last Chance to Win Champions League
The goal was so good that even the Juventus fans rose to applaud Ronaldo - after previously jeering his every touch. Said Allegri: "We had defended very well and allowed Real very little until their second goal".

To be sure, Trump praised his tax cut plan, especially during a question-and-answer session with officials gathered in White Sulphur Springs.

"Next April you're going to, in many cases, one page, one card", he said.

He repeated his unfounded and unsubstantiated claim that "millions and millions of people" voted illegally in 2016.

. He said they have helped revived the economy and allowed Americans to keep more of their money.

It wasn't immediately clear what he was talking about, but he appeared to be referring to a so-called caravan of Central American migrants that had been traveling through Mexico toward the US border.

Trump has seized on news reports that the migrant group was traveling toward the U.S. Organizers of the migrant group said they never meant to reach the U.S. border.

In a tweet, the president credits "the strong immigration laws of Mexico and their willingness to use them".

That's according to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. And 2017 had the lowest recorded illegal crossings since 1972.
