China says it has 'indisputable sovereignty' over South China Sea

China 'secretly places' cruise missiles on islands in contested waters

The claims come on the backdrop of a recent report that Chinese surface to air missiles have been installed at three outposts in the South China Sea- Fiery Cross Reef, Subi Reef and Mischief Reef. It cited sources with direct knowledge of US intelligence. "There will be near-term and long-term consequences".

Sanders did not say what the consequences might be.

If confirmed, this would be the first time that a claimant to the Spratlys Islands installed missiles in the region, Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate said.

China, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam all have overlapping claims in the region.

President Donald Trump has maintained that he would be willing to negotiate with China or acts as a mediator over the ongoing, an offer immediately dismissed by Beijing as unnecessary foreign meddling. China has "indisputable sovereignty" over the islands, she claimed.

"Those who do not intend to be aggressive have no need to be anxious or scared", said ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying.

Australia's largest bank loses records of 20 million accounts
But OAIC is now making further inquiries after a report by APRA slammed the bank for its "widespread sense of complacency". It did not tell customers because "we balanced the need to alert customers without unnecessarily alarming them", he said.

While the US routinely conducts maritime training drills in the South China Sea, military presence in the region is regularly contested.

While confident that the administration's friendship with China ensures the missiles will not be used against Filipinos, MalacaƱang said the Philippines will still address the issue through "diplomatic means". According to a report in CNBC, China has made the move quietly to project its power in of the most disputed zones in worldwide affairs and it cited sources that have direct knowledge of U.S. intelligence reports.

Hua made the remarks at a routine press briefing when asked to respond to a report by United States network TV channel CNBC on Wednesday that China has deployed a missile system on Nansha during the last 30 days.

"China, of course, has a unique responsibility as a permanent member of the Security Council, to uphold peace and security around the world".

Beijing previously announced in 2016 it had already deployed similar weapons to Woody Island in the Paracel Islands, on the north-western edge of the South China Sea. Last year China had built missile shelters on the reefs. The surface-to-air missiles are reportedly HQ-9B type and possess a range of approximately 160 nautical miles.

"The relevant deployment targets no one". "When China sees that it can get away with these types of actions with little cost ... it only makes it more likely they will keep pressing", he said.
