New York Jets owner Christopher Johnson says his players can still protest

Here’s how the 49ers are pushing back on the NFL’s rule against kneeling protests

Yesterday, the National Football League owners unanimously approved the new policy, which requires players to stand if they are on the field during the performance but gives them the option to remain in the locker room if they prefer.

The league's new policy gives players the option of going to the locker room during the anthem.

The new policy states that teams can be fined if "personnel do not show appropriate respect for flag and anthem".

"I do not like imposing any club-specific rules", Johnson said. "If the team gets fined, that's just something I'll have to bear".

"I think they will stay in the locker room I just think the kneeling was their way of showing it, but now they have another", Katy Williamson said. "Of course. But I understand if they felt the need to protest", he said.

"For me, this has never been about taking a knee, raising a fist or anyone's patriotism but doing what we can to effect real change for real people".

Khan released a statement Wednesday afternoon.

Trochesset said 200 officers from law enforcement agencies throughout the region converged Friday afternoon on the shooting scene. Abbott said the discussions will include lawmakers, educators, students, parents, gun-rights advocates and shooting survivors.

Game Operations Manual will be revised to remove the requirement that all players be on the field for the Anthem.

"The problem we have is, we have a president who will use that as fodder to do his mission that I don't feel is in the best interests of America", said Robert Kraft, the New England Patriots owner and a longtime supporter of Trump's. "But still I think it's good".

The kneeling controversy rattled a $US14 billion ($18.5 billion) industry, and the new policy attempts to resolve a distraction for the owners, said Bob Dorfman, a sports marketing expert at Baker Street Advertising.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said the change was approved unanimously by the owners at their spring meeting in Atlanta, but it was met with immediate skepticism by the players' union.

Another question: Will the effective ban on protesting result in jobs for Kaepernick and Reid, who are both free agents, in part because teams believed they would continue to kneel during the anthem and create a distraction? "It was unfortunate that on-field protests created a false perception among many that thousands of National Football League players were unpatriotic".

Two prominent Seahawks on Wednesday joined the rising chorus of NFL players who expressed dismay over the league's new policy regarding the national anthem during separate local radio interviews. Those owners added that, if players and others choose to take the field for the playing of the National Anthem, they can't sit or kneel or do anything else that doesn't involve standing - or else.

The 2016 presidential election siphoned viewers while the league's domestic abuse scandal also played a role, according to a JD Power and Associates survey. "But still, I think it's good", Trump beamed in the interview, taped previous afternoon while Trump attended an anti-immigration event in NY. They're here to help and keep the peace.' My first thought is 'let me make sure I get my license out, my registration out, put my hands on the wheel, make sure everything is visible, make sure that I look alright so I can be as safe as possible'. "It also lets you, the fan, know where our league stands", Long said.
