Royal wedding: Meghan Markle's bridesmaids and pageboys announced

Meghan Markle has confirmed her father Thomas Markle will not be attending the royal wedding on Saturday.

Thomas Markle is said to have successfully undergone heart surgery on Wednesday to implant three stents, so will be unable to give his daughter away as he needs time to recover.

St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in England will host the royal wedding.

However, much of the carefully-planned and choreographed build-up to the ceremony has been overshadowed by confusion over whether Markle's father would attend.

After originally planning to attend, he then decided not to travel from his home in Mexico to spare his daughter embarrassment after a paparazzi scandal where he posed for staged pictures.

Sky News reported that Ragland received VIP treatment.

The bride's mum Doria Ragland will be staying with her daughter at Cliveden House Hotel the night before the wedding and is accompanying her daughter to the church on the morning of Saturday 19 May.

So, as of publication time Tuesday afternoon, Thomas Markle still reportedly plans to walk his daughter down the aisle.

It's a relief knowing that Markle will be surrounded by people who are close to her after dealing with family drama from her dad and back-stabbing siblings. In addition to Charlotte, who is Harry's niece, the bridesmaids are: his goddaughters, Zalie Warren, two, and Florence van Cutsem, three; Markle's goddaughters, Remi and Rylan Litt, who are sisters aged six and seven respectively; and Ivy Mulroney, aged four.

White House Chimes in on 'Laurel or Yanny' Debate
The debate is this: a distorted audio bite plays and those listening in either hear "Yanny" or "Laurel ". The word Yanny, the second frequency, has nearly exactly the same pattern as the L, R, L in Laurel.

The palace could not be reached for further comment.

Meghan Markle, who is gearing up to marry Britain's Prince Harry, is advised by future Countess of Sandwich Julie Montagu to maintain her all-American roots in a new documentary.

'I really think it stinks, ' she said.

However, the TMZ website reported on Monday that he had decided not to attend the glittering wedding at the castle, the home of English and British monarchs for nearly 1 000 years.

Harry, now sixth in line to the throne, has said that Diana is always in his thoughts, and has championed many of her charitable causes, including taking an HIV test to raise awareness.

Staging the photos was meant to counter the way he had been "so unfairly presented in the media as being sort of shabby".

Daily Mail columnist Sarah Vine on Thursday castigated Harry's Kensington Palace press operation for not doing more to prevent Markle's relatives from sniping at her.

If you were hoping for a "princess" title, there is a small silver lining: although Meghan will never be a princess in her own right, she can still technically be referred to by the "Princess" title if it's in reference to her husband, as in - Her Royal Highness Princess Henry of Wales.
