Kushner criticizes Abbas, says Mideast peace plan due soon

Kushner says will publish Mideast plan 'soon,' newspaper says

Al-Quds dedicated its main front page story to efforts by the United States to impose its so-called "deal of the century" on the region and the trip two U.S. officials, Jarod Kushner and Jason Greenblatt, are now making to the region to sell their plan, which is rejected in total by the Palestinians and who are boycotting the USA due to its recognition of Jerusalem as capital of Israel.

He said Arab leaders who met with U.S. envoys Kushner and Jason Greenblatt during their recent tour of the region had expressed reservations about the proposed Trump plan.

Kushner said in the interview that the Arab leaders he spoke with stressed the need for a Palestinian state with a capital of East Jerusalem and for the Al Aqsa Mosque - a holy site in Islam that rests on the Temple Mount, a holy site in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam - to remain open to Muslims who want to worship there. The Palestinians claim east Jerusalem as a future capital.

The worldwide community, he added, "is getting frustrated with Palestinian leadership and not seeing many actions that are constructive towards achieving peace".

Prince William has kicked off a politically delicate five-day tour of Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian territories, planning to meet with young people, refugees and political leaders in a tumultuous region once controlled by Britain. "He has his talking points which have not changed in the last 25 years", he added.

"So now the blame game has begun", said Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat. "I am not sure President Abbas has the ability to do that".

That coincides with the language of the worldwide consensus and global law, which hold that East Jerusalem and the West Bank are Israeli-occupied territory.

Trump Signs Order to 'keep Families Together'
United States immigration officials say 2,342 children were separated from 2,206 parents between 5 May and 9 June. United chief executive Oscar Munoz said: "We want no part of it".

Hanan Ashrawi, a senior official of the Palestine Liberation Organization, said she welcomes William's visit to the West Bank as a chance to see Palestinian reality under Israeli occupation first hand. He offered, however, few details, saying only the White House would present an economic plan to promote "massive investments" in the Palestinian territories and the region.

The duke will also visit Ramallah in the West Bank, where he will focus on issues facing refugee communities, as well as meeting Mr Abbas.

As such, he'll be meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

"It will be up to the leadership and the people of both sides to determine what is an acceptable compromise in exchange for significant gains", he said.

It remains unclear how the US would proceed with a peace plan without Palestinian cooperation. Israeli-Palestinian negotiations stalled in 2014 over disputes that have deepened with bloodshed in Gaza and the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Two days earlier, Hamas fired three rockets into Israel following Israeli strikes responding to Palestinian arson terrorism.

"If there's any plan, this is being implemented on the ground; with moving the US Embassy to occupied Jerusalem, withdrawing support for the two-state solution, cutting funds to [UN relief agency for Palestine] UNRWA and, eventually, trying to normalise the Israeli apartheid in Palestine", Erekat told MEE. Palestinian leaders have demanded an apology for the Balfour Declaration, the seminal 1917 letter from the British foreign secretary that endorsed the creation of a Jewish state.
