Despite two victories in two games, Mexico's future in the World Cup is almost as unsettled as it was when the team landed in Russian Federation three weeks ago.

"All I am saying is people behaved in ways you don't, you cheer when you win, you leave the opponents to feel sad, you don't react in the way they did".

Low's decision to leave Manchester City forward Leroy Sane out of the squad will be under the spotlight once more as the attacking line were repeatedly frustrated by Sweden's defence, seemingly incapable of finding a creative spark throughout the first half.

The world champions were staring elimination at the first hurdle at a World Cup for the first time since 1930 when Kroos stood over a free-kick with 94 minutes on the clock in Sochi.

Here, AFP Sport looks at three things we learned from the World Cup today.

World Cup favourites Brazil beat Serbia to finish top of Group E
Filipe Luis replaced him, and the Atletico Madrid man ensured that Marcelo , for all his qualities, was not missed. Barcelona's Paulinho and Paris Saint-Germain's Thiago Silva scored the goals but it wasn't always straightforward.

Reus connected with his knee to steer the ball home for the equalizer early in the second half to mark the beginning of a massive German offensive. "Our deep bench will help us in this case". Falling behind the Swedes 1-0 at halftime was unexpected.

Up Next: Both teams return to the pitch Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET for their final Group F matches.

The desperate world champions from Germany were seconds from losing control of their World Cup fate when Toni Kroos whispered to Marco Reus just outside Sweden's penalty area.

Sweden were 1-0 winners against South Korea in their first game and could make the last 16 with a victory, which coach Janne Andersson has called "extraordinary". However, a second yellow card for Jerome Boateng resulted Germany going down a man in the 82nd minute of the match, and Sweden had a chance to win.

After the emotional highs of beating Germany in their opening game, there was no hangover in Rostov as Juan Carlos Osorio's men kept South Korea at arm's length despite some rough treatment from the Asians and deservedly claimed another three points. You can read all about the Group F tiebreakers and chaos scenarios here. However, Mexico truly dominated for stretches, and looked every bit as good as the team that knocked off Germany. Mexico, which has been among the more impressive teams in the tournament with two wins, could be eliminated if it doesn't get at least a draw against Sweden. Now, the group is wide open.
