Donald Trump’s disgraceful bow to Russian Federation

President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin shake hands at the beginning of a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki Finland

A number of American media outlets have accused the USA president of treason following his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, in which Mr Trump said he trusted his Russian counterpart ahead of his own intelligence services.

"In addition to his comments at the press conference, Putin again denied any Russian interference in the US election in an interview with Fox News" Chris Wallace.

While Trump has repeatedly decried the special counsel investigation into possible collusion between his presidential campaign and Russia, his comments on Monday were particularly unusual, having come just three days after a dozen Russian officials were indicted on charges of hacking Democratic servers during the 2016 campaign. There is a consensus that "Putin is not right, Trump is wrong, we believe our institutions, we trust in our democracy, Russian Federation did interfere, we will not trade facts for feelings of legitimacy, we will not trade our conscious for conspiracy", Cuomo said, and with so many Americans of all political stripes getting outraged, "Trump's luck ran out".

Asked if there was anything he thinks Russian Federation should take responsibility for, Trump said: 'We're all to blame'.

The statement from Dan Coats, the Director of National Intelligence, did not directly reference Trump's comments at a news conference alongside Putin in Helsinki.

Speaking to Fox News following his summit on Monday with Trump in Helsinki, Finland, the Russian president said: "Do you really believe that someone acting from the Russian territory could have influenced the United States and influenced the choice of millions of Americans?"

Lasha Tchantouridze is a professor of diplomacy and global relations at Norwich University, who specializes in Russian Federation and the U.S. He says this meeting between the two leaders could be the start of something different. We won't let the president say otherwise, but we're facing a question: "Where do we go from here?"

On Friday, a United States special counsel unveiled indictments of 12 Russian spies on charges of hacking Democratic Party computers as part of election meddling, the second set of charges against Russians in a probe that Trump calls a political witch hunt.

The charges also included attempting to break into state boards of elections and other government agencies, conspiracy against the USA and money laundering.

Angelique Kerber stuns Serena Williams in straight sets to win Wimbledon title
Previous year was a real struggle for Kerber so it was no surprise she was so emotional at the moment of victory. But when she thinks about everything she has gone through to reach this point, she will enjoy it.

Sen. John McCain, meanwhile, issued a statement saying the "damage inflicted by President Trump's naivete, egotism, false equivalence, and sympathy for autocrats is hard to calculate".

"Have you forgotten about - well, has Kennedy been killed in Russian Federation or in the United States?"

Trump adds, "And one thing you know: If they had it, it would have been out". "I think it's kept us apart; it's kept us separated", he said.

Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis of Florida, a close Trump ally who is running for governor, blamed former President Barack Obama for Russian election meddling and said the Trump administration has been tougher toward Russia than its predecessor.

Trump's remarks at the news conference brought swift condemnation from Democrats and Republicans alike. Russia, he said, 'remains hostile to our most basic values and ideals'.

Former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel also criticized Trump for his behavior, claiming that he "failed America today".

Putin was re-elected in a disputed election in March with the main opposition leader Alexei Navalny barred from running on what he says was a pretext.

"When he had the opportunity to defend our intelligence agencies, who work for him, I was very disappointed and saddened with the equivalency he gave between them and what Putin was saying", Corker said.

But he proceeded to undermine even that token acknowledgement of reality when he answered a reporter's question about whether he believed the US intelligence community's conclusion or Putin's denials.
